NESO have released their latest forecast of Transmission charges over the next five years
Five-Year View of TNUoS Tariffs for 2027/28–2031/32
Its 82 pages of data to churn through but is mostly the tables of all the various charges that get split out to individual charging zones.
The 27/28 total recovery is up 0.4B on last years initial forecast to 9.5B reaching 13.8B by 2021/32.
What amused me is they have lowered the generation base by over 11GW to 110GW 27/28 so there previous forecast was lousy. Then they still expect over 10GW to be added in each of the following years citing the forecast is based on the July 26 TEC. I just dont see that happening either.
This sort of matters as it impacts the recovery through generators which will now be 12.32/MWh although due to EU cap of E2.50/MWh at generator terminals there is a downwards adjustment to give c£11 at the local substation connection.
However, as we know most cost is recovered from consumers and they now forecast that domestic consumer will be paying £103.24 for 2027/28 which will be 12% of their annual bill up from this years 8.8%. Its not clear what energy cap cost input they have used mind you so no doubt the eco lot will ignore such facts. Also the forecast indicates it will have increased to nearly £130 by year five.
The vast majority of this is to fund the ludicrously named Great British Grid Upgrade although exactly what we are getting when is not at all clear which impacts the BUoS charges.
